Nabirye Balyejusa Manager
Nabirye Balyejusa I have worked in the Voluntary sector both as a volunteer and as a paid worker with a diversity of user groups. I was Manager at SHAKTI Women’s Aid, tackling violence against minority ethnic women for a number of years. I then joined the Council of Minority Ethnic Voluntary Sector Organisations (CEMVO) as Capacity Building Officer supporting the BME voluntary sector throughout Scotland. Subsequently, I took up the Manager’s post at SCOREscotland in December 2006. Prior to all this, I was volunteer Project Worker at Amnesty International’s Scotland Office. My remit included setting up a Scottish Children’s Human Rights Network.
I also volunteered for OXFAM Scotland and YWCA Roundabout Centre.
I have an Honours Degree in Social Anthropology with Development, a Post Graduate diploma in Community Education and a CEMVO sponsored MBA in Capacity Building.
Ijaz Ashraf Caseworker
Ijaz Ashraf

I have worked as a Case Worker since September 1999 when the organisation was known as West Edinburgh Multicultural Developement Project. Since then my role has been to provide one to one advice/information/advocay and support to minority ethnic communities experiencing a range of issues such as racism, discrimination, housing, education, benefits, immigration, employement and help with filling forms. My role also involves advocating common issues experienced by communities at forums such as West Edinburgh Group Against Racism (WEGARAH) to affect change. I feel my role is crucial to contributing to improving the quality of life of people who are often unaware of the systems or services available to them.

Julia Moscrop Youth & Children Development Officer
Julia Moscrop I’m SCOREscotlands Youth and Children’s Development Officer and have been part of Knots and Crosses Youth Club since December. I really enjoy working with such a diverse, fun and friendly group of young people. I enjoy getting to know everyone at club on Fridays and Saturdays and I love going out on trips and having fun in the school holidays. The clubs are a space for children and young people from Minority Ethnic backgrounds to have fun but we welcome anyone who would like to meaningfully participate.
Annette West Administrator
Annette West

Having worked at Stevenson College for over thirteen years as a Clerical Assistant in the English Language Teaching Department, I then went into full time education as a mature student to study Complementary Therapies at Napier University. I recently completed a training course with Women On To Work organisation and subsequently applied for the position of part-time Administrator at SCOREscotland in August 2009.
Since taking on this position I am steadily becoming the first point of contact within the Office and assist with all administrative duties.

Khalida Hussain Chairperson
Khalida Hussain Khalida has been involved with the organisation since 2002, initially as a member and latterly as Chair for the last four years. She has acquired a good level of experience of race equality work through her day job working for a voluntary anti-racist organisation and her active involvement in the community, in particular, with minority ethnic women. This experience has proved invaluable for the service development of SCOREscotland.
Ajaz Hussain  
Ajaz Hussain

Ajaz has lived in the UK for over 40 years. He has a wealth of life experience to share and help progress the work of SCOREscotland. Ajaz currently works as a Civil Engineer for Midlothian Council.
Ajaz has been on the board for over two years and has actively contributed towards promoting social cohesion through his participation in planning and organising social events. He is keen to promote community harmony through creating informal community interaction.

Taimur Malik  
Taimur Malik

Taimur has lived in the West of Edinburgh for three years and joined the SCOREscotland in September 2006. He has worked in the private financial sector for over five years and has acquired extensive experience in the IT field.
Taimur is supportive of SCOREscotland’s aims of an inclusive society and wishes to support its work, in particular by raising its online profile and by developing more effective IT communications.


Amjad Chaudhry  
Shaz Humayun Amjad is a retired Civil Engineer who worked for east of Scotland Water for over nine years. He has lived in the West of Edinburgh for 39 years and has been involved with the organisation for almost five years.
Amjad has good knowledge of the area and issues affecting minority ethnic communities. He has gained a lot of experience over the years through his involvement in a number voluntary organisation. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Pakistan Society, Vice Chair of Multi-Agency group WEGARAH and has in the past been involved with the Edinburgh Racial Incident Monitoring Project (ERIMP).

Shaz Humayun  
Ajaz Hussain Shaz lives in the West of Edinburgh. He has been a board member since 2004. He works full time with the Royal Bank of Scotland as a Business Industry Analyst. Shaz is dedicated to actively contributing to the development of the organisation in particular by sharing his knowledge and experience of the financial world.

Iftakhar Sheikh  
Iftakhar Sheikh Iftakhar has lived in West Edinburgh for almost eight years, he has two children and several grandchildren. He has been a member of the organisation for almost three years. Iftakhar is also Treasurer of the Jafaria Foundation.
He is committed and keen to support the work of the organisation, particularly as his family has benefited form the services provided.

Kate Betney  
Kate Betney Kate worked as a generic Community Education Worker in Wester Hailes from 1990 to 1993 and learned a lot from an element of her job, which was to support Philip Chan and Shamime Mansoori in their Community Relations work.

She then worked for the YWCA Roundabout Centre, in Edinburgh, from 1993 to 2001, initially as Community Education Worker and finally as Project Manager/Community Education Worker. The Centre supported black/minority ethnic women and children, with classes, groups, advice and information, and with the amazing inter-cultural and inclusive Summer School.

Omara Naseem Sessional Worker
Omara I am studying to become a Counselling Psychologist and am currently studying at Edinburgh University completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Studies. I also work full time at Edinburgh’s Telford College in the Student Services team. At the weekend I am a couple’s counsellor and also a youth worker at SCOREscotland at KCYC. I love working with the young people, taking them on trips, doing activities and participating in games with them. We always have fun together and manage to learn new things along the way. It’s been a fantastic experience so far and I’ve made many new friends in the KCYC community.

Nicole Mooey Sessional Worker
Nicole I’m a Youth Worker with KCYC. I work at the Friday session for 8-13 year olds and the Saturday afternoon session for 14-18 year olds. I’m also a politics student at the university of Edinburgh as well as also working at Granton Youth centre. In my spare time I enjoy riding my bike and volunteering for a few orgaisations.

Kyu Sik Sessional Worker
Kyu Sik I have been working with KCYC as a Youth Worker for about 4 months. I work at other youth clubs in the city as well but KCYC is my favourite. Young people are my inspiration and so, working with them is fantastic because it is my dream job. In addition, there are good people at KCYC and I have made many friends.

Sophia Johnston Sessional Worker
Sophia I have been working with K.C.Y.C for over a year and a half. I love working with kids and doing new and exciting activities with the group. It’s great being part of a youth team with such a fun and lively group of young people.
