/ Ukrainian Group “KOLO”
Support for Ukranian speaking people
This group is no longer active. Find out more about our projects here.
The group was formed on the basis of Ukrainian members who regularly used the services of SCOREscotland. In the multicultural café, the idea was born to create the group “KOLO”, which means “circle” in Ukrainian, and to offer a variety of support options.
The first meeting took place in December 2022 at SCOREscotland to discuss the challenges that Ukrainian people are facing currently in Edinburgh. We looked at ways in which our charity can support them to overcome these barriers, including language, employability etc. We collated useful information and sent out to these individuals including links to other organisations that can provide specific support.
We also supported our service users with the Mission Christmas campaign and submitted an application to CashForKids who provided gifts to be opened on Christmas Day.
SCOREscotland is keen to expand this group further in the future and offer a variety of support options.
One of our Ukrainian members said: “When I come here and I see Ekaterine, I know that she will do everything to help me, it looks like a light in a dark ”
“My English is not good and it feels like home when I come there and somebody will talk to me in my language. I am not accustomed to receive free services in my country and I am so grateful for the services you deliver at SCOREscotland”.
