SCOREscotland in collaboration with Push The Boat Out: Creative Writing Project
We ran an eight-week creative writing project with young people from Wester Hailes High School. Six participants worked with Lauren and Asha from PTBO and Davie from SCOREscotland to create their own original pieces of art, including drama, poetry, and music.
Lauren and Asha helped spark the participants’ creativity, guiding them from simple rhyming words to fully developed sentences and complete pieces of work, such as poems and rap songs. The young people proudly performed their creations at this year’s Push The Boat Out Festival at the Pleasance, Edinburgh, on 21 November 2025.
We are thrilled to say that all six participants delivered outstanding performances—they were simply brilliant. Over the course of the programme, the group had fun, gained confidence, built new social connections, and expressed enthusiasm for continuing the project in the future.
